A bursary for female students in the School of Tourism and Hospitality to reflect Joy's lifelong enjoyment of international travel.

Working together for women and girls, the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) is a voluntary, non-profit, self-funded bilingual organization of close to 10,000 women university graduates. Helen Joy Russell chose to leave the Victoria branch of CFUW a generous portion of her estate for the purpose of continuing its philanthropic work of providing financial aid to deserving women students through bursaries and scholarships. In January 2008, CFUW Victoria established in her name an endowed bursary for students in the School of Tourism and Hospitality, to reflect Joy's lifelong enjoyment of international travel.
