Working together for women and girls, the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) is a voluntary, non-profit, self-funded bilingual organization of close to 10,000 women university graduates. Helen Joy Russell chose to leave the Victoria branch of CFUW a generous portion of her estate for the purpose of continuing its philanthropic work of providing financial aid to deserving women students through bursaries and scholarships. In January 2008, CFUW Victoria established in her name an endowed bursary for MAPC and MAIIC students to reflect lifelong interest in intercultural and international affairs.
