Study Abroad
The BC Scholarship Society, in partnership with the Victoria Foundation, hosts a suite of international scholarships designed to support students from BC in studying abroad.
Eligibility
Scholarships of $2,000 - $5,000 are available from the One World International Scholarship program. These travel funding scholarships are available to students who are:
- Canadian citizens, permanent residents, Convention refugees, or Protected Persons living in Canada.
- Currently enrolled full time at a public post-secondary institution in BC.
- Have been accepted into an international experience program:
- For a period of two weeks or longer (not including travel time);
- Beginning before May 1
- That not within a country which the applicant emigrated from within the past 5 years, and
- That is not within the US (First Nations, Métis, and Inuk applicants excepted)
- Have demonstrated a link between the international experience program and their educational and/or career goals; and,
- Have not previously received a One World International Scholarship or a Premier's International Scholarship.
How to apply
The scholarships are awarded by Royal Roads University. Applications to this program are considered on the basis of academic merit, educational objectives, institutional and/or community involvement, past experiences that relate to potential for success with study abroad, and readiness to go overseas. Preference will be given to students who have not secured alternative funding.
A complete application comprises:
- The application form (click 'Learn More' below)
- Unofficial transcripts of all post-secondary studies to date, in British Columbia and elsewhere;
- A completed reference form (found on the last page of the application form), provided by an individual who can comment on the applicant's accomplishments, character, and motivations as well as confirm participation in the community an.or school activities.
Submit the complete application to RRU's Financial Aid & Awards office.
