12 Month On Campus BCom
This intensive and immersive program is unique in that it provides years three and four of a conventional four-year business degree in 12 months. By eliminating the long breaks characteristic of traditional programs, it condenses the third and fourth year of study and allows students to complete two years of university courses in 12 months. The total on-campus attendance is approximately 45 weeks. The on-campus BCom degree isn't about getting a degree fast but intensifying and accelerating the learning experience so that students can make their entrepreneurial impact sooner. Ambitious learners can approach this program like a business incubator/accelerator.
The calendar year is organized on a quarterly system with each quarter approximately 9 weeks long. The on-campus BCom program begins online with a required one-week preparation course, Bridge to BCom, and the first two weeks of the first course in the program, Foundational Business Skills (FBS). The FBS course is designed to equip learners with the critical thinking, problem-solving, communications, and team-work skills that will set students up for success throughout the program and beyond.
An important component of the program is a Capstone Project that integrates learning derived from all courses in the program. The project results in a professional presentation to a panel of industry experts and the development of a comprehensive business plan for a new venture or a client organization.
Applied Business Challenges (ABC)
These are one week intensive hands-on learning experiences designed to integrate various BCom courses and learning outcomes between each quarter. Students are exposed to various methodologies, tools and approaches that enable them to creatively identify and solve real-world business challenges under time and resource constraints. Activities may include live client engagements and business bootcamps. In addition students may participate on the Royal Roads case competition team, applying their case analysis and presentation skills at various competitions.
