Conflict expert Prof. Ken Christie offered commentary to radio listeners in Victoria and Vancouver on the reaction to Wednesday’s fatal plane crash near Tehran. Most of the plane’s passengers were traveling to Canada, and many were students, faculty or alumni of Canadian colleges and universities.

Here’s an excerpt from his conversation with Al Ferraby on CFAX 1070:

“It’s a national disaster, I would say… It’s a tragedy for the students and for the many universities affected across the country. There were a number of professors and academics, post-graduate and ordinary students. The biggest tragedy is for their families and those who need to pick up the pieces.”

Interviews aired Jan. 9 on Mornings with Al Ferraby and Afternoons with Ryan Price on CFAX 1070, CBC Radio’s All Points West and The Eagle 97.3.
