Assoc. Prof. David Black with the School of Communication and Culture was interviewed by the Cable Public Affairs Channel (CPAC) on the federal election race for the riding of Esquimalt–Saanich–Sooke. The NDP’s Randall Garrison currently holds the riding and faces a significant challenge from the Green’s David Merner.

Here is an excerpt:

“I think what we’re going to see here, possibly, is a mini Green wave. 2019 is going to revert to what I would argue is a kind of Canadian political normal. It’s going to be a close election with the two traditional parties, the Liberals and Conservatives, fighting each other as they have for a 100 or more years for political power. And, to the centre-left the NDP and the resurgent Greens to fight between themselves defining what it means to be left of centre in Canada.”

“I think in the end it’s going to be a very close election between Garrison, the incumbent, and Merner, the former Liberal now Green candidate.”

This interview aired on CPAC.
