Nelson Jatel is a senior project manager with more than 15 years of experience in freshwater science. He is the Okanagan Basin Water Board’s director of water stewardship and has taught water law at Okanagan College. Jatel is the former executive director of the Okanagan Partnership–a business led non-profit focused on collaboration and identifying practical solutions to support a globally competitive Okanagan. Jatel is a registered professional Agrologist in BC and works with the Okanagan Basin Water Board’s Okanagan Water Stewardship Council to develop practical solutions that reflect the best available science, innovative policy and consensus approaches. He is the founder and CEO of Limnology Research Corp, an innovative consulting firm focused on decision support and the development of marine safety applications. He works with corporate and government clients to explore and optimize governance systems and has spoken about visualizing governance networks, improving efficiency and optimizing performance across Canada. Jatel holds a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of British Columbia (2013) where he researched water governance in the Okanagan Valley. As a Mitacs Accelerate Intern, Jatel’s doctoral research at Royal Roads focuses on water governance.
