Katrina Connors

Katrina has been working on salmon conservation issues for the past 10 years. She is currently the Director of Skeena Programs at the Pacific Salmon Foundation, a charitable, non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation and restoration of wild Pacific salmon and their natural habitats in British Columbia and the Yukon. The Skeena Program focuses on improving our understanding of the status of Skeena salmon populations and their habitat by assembling and analyzing baseline scientific information and making this information available to the public. Prior to directing the Skeena Program, Katrina coordinated the activities of a multi-sectoral governance initiative formed to advise and make recommendations to provincial and federal regulatory agencies on salmon and steelhead management in the Skeena Watershed. Katrina has also worked for other environmental organizations and research programs collecting data in the field, supporting the development of marine planning processes and building models to explore the biological and economic consequences of commercial fisheries. She has also spent a number of years working as a fishing guide at a remote fishing lodge in Haida Gwaii.

Katrina currently sits on the Board of Directors at Aunt Leah’s Place, a not-for-profit organization that assists kids and teenage moms in foster care successfully transition to independent living. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from the University of Victoria and a Master of Resource and Environmental Management from Simon Fraser University. Katrina has a passion for working with diverse interest groups to address issues of concern for wild salmon and catalyzing the collection, analysis and dissemination of information that informs the development of approaches and priorities for the conservation of wild salmon.
