Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced on Friday, Oct. 2, 2020, that international students with a valid, approved study permit are exempt from Canada’s travel restrictions and can travel to Canada on or after Tuesday, October 20, 2020. This exemption applies to all international students, regardless of where they are travelling from or when their study permit was approved.

International students who do not have COVID-19 symptoms, who do have the appropriate documents to enter Canada, and whose Designated Learning Institution (DLI) is on the list of institutions with approved COVID-19 readiness plans, are now considered non-discretionary and non-optional travellers. Royal Roads University is a DLI with an approved COVID-19 readiness plan.

IRCC says you should not make any travel plans until you have met all requirements and have all the necessary approvals to come to Canada under the new rules. IRCC says further details will be published Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020 and posted here.
