Our Interdisciplinary Studies programs enable students to pave an educational pathway shaped by their unique aspirations and career goals.

Join us on July 8 for a webinar on the Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, and in Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies programs. Hosted by program head, Dr. Jo Axe, and Interdisciplinary Studies Program Advisor, Willem van Doesburg, this session will provide you with information about the program and application requirements, as well as an opportunity to ask questions. You will also hear from one of our alumni, Barb Sheldon, to learn about her first-hand experience of the MAIS program, how she was able to customize her studies to meet her personal and professional needs, and how her education is now serving them in their life.

Meet our MAIS graduate

Barb Sheldon is a recent graduate of the Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with Royal Roads University. She is a food literacy educator, Chef, and Holistic Nutritionist in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Her love of food and feeding people lead her to want to know more about how to increase the ability of marginalized youth populations to receive access to more food and food education. In 2016, she began her journey with Royal Roads in the MAIS program with her major project focussing on effective food literacy program design for youth in the 2SLGBTQ+ community, with a specific focus on education for transgender people. She continues to use the learning and discoveries she made while enrolled in the MAIS program to develop better food literacy programming and opportunities around the world.
