Disasters are more than just hazards to avoid; they are complex events shaped by our environment, society, economy, and politics. Join us for a webinar on December 4th, 2024, where we will explore the impacts of Québec’s flood relocation policies and how they affect communities in high-risk flood zones.

In this session, we’ll explore a compelling case study from Québec, where severe flooding affected more than 14,500 homes. This disaster led the government to introduce a policy encouraging people to relocate from flood-prone areas - we’ll discuss the ongoing impact of this decision.

The webinar will also offer an opportunity to learn about the Master of Arts and Graduate Diploma in Disaster and Emergency Management programs at Royal Roads University. Program Head Mahmood Fayazi will explain how these programs prepare you to understand the complex dynamics of disasters, empowering you to plan, mitigate, and respond effectively when communities face challenges like these.
