The Wilma Colford Bursary has been established to assist Royal Roads students in any degree program. The bursary was created by Mary Bernard, who founded the Office of Research and Faculty Affairs at RRU and is the daughter of Wilma Colford. Additional family members credited to the vision of the bursary include Wilma’s children Paula Colford, Larry Colford (late), Chris Colford, and Bryan Colford, her granddaughters Rebecca Phillips Bernard and Layla Clarkson, and her great granddaughters Sionainn Phillips and Kaelyn Phillips, and her great grandson Michael Colford.

Wilma (1929 - 2002) was a single parent for much of her working life following her husband’s passing. As a teacher she also inspired and mentored youth in her community in the three communities in which she taught - Upper Blackville, Blackville, and Miramichi City, New Brunswick. She gave many a helping hand and strongly supported the pursuit of education. The family of Wilma created this bursary as a way to honor her memory and efforts.
