Mr. Bird is a current member of the British Columbia Premier’s Technology Council, and a Director of Victoria-based Vecima Networks Inc. Mr. Bird is retired Chair of both Saskatchewan Telecommunications Ltd., and of TRLabs Ltd. As former president of Nortel Networks Asia South Pacific he worked from Singapore and Sydney, Australia, and from the period 1987 to 1990, he was president of Manitoba Telephones.

Mr. Bird holds a degree in electrical engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada and diplomas from The Banff School of Advanced Management and Harvard Business School.
