MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING Regarding Credit Transfer between Royal Roads University and University of the Fraser Valley

This memorandum of understanding (MOU) constitutes an agreement between Royal Roads University (RRU) and University of the Fraser Valley (UFV).  The departments participating in the agreement are the Faculty of Social and Applied Sciences and Division of Education Studies at RRU, and the School of Graduate Studies at UFV.

Objective of the Agreement

RRU agrees to facilitate the transfer of students from UFV with appropriate prerequisite qualifications into programs at RRU.  By this agreement, applicants from programs at UFV will be eligible to transfer credits into an RRU program, as specified below, provided all other entrance criteria are met and space remains available.  Entrance to all programs at RRU is on a competitive basis.

Upon successful completion of:

  1. The Graduate Certificate in Program Evaluation at UFV, students will be eligible for transfer of 12 credits into the Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies at RRU.
  2. The Graduate Certificate in Teacher Leadership and Mentorship at UFV, students will be eligible for transfer of 9 credits into the Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Management at RRU. Three additional credits will be eligible for transfer based on the successful review by qualified RRU faculty members of the appropriateness and relevance of student work in the practicum course - EDUC 704.

As a partner to this agreement, UFV agrees:

  • to make information about this agreement and the RRU programs to which it pertains available to students.
  • to provide opportunity for representatives from RRU, as required, to visit UFV to disseminate information about the RRU programs.
  • to notify RRU of any changes to the programs specified in this agreement.

As a partner to this agreement, RRU agrees

  • to provide UFV with updated information about the RRU programs specified in this agreement on an annual basis.
  • to notify UFV with as much lead time as possible about any changes to the program specified in this agreement that are anticipated or approved.

Liaison

Implementation of this agreement will be through the Registrar’s Office at each institution, in consultation with the appropriate authorities in the respective programs.

Terms of the Agreement

This agreement shall be in place for a period of three years commencing December 1, 2010.  At the end of this time, the agreement will be subject to review and renewal by RRU.  If there are impediments to renewal, RRU will notify UFV of the impediments with the goal of negotiating a new agreement.  Final approval of the agreement will remain with the President of RRU.  Either party may terminate the agreement with reasonable notice.
Royal Roads University retains the right to limit the number of students admitted under this agreement.
