Both the MAL (formerly MALT - MA in Leadership and Training) and the Executive Coaching programs met my personal and professional development needs. RRU offered the type of learning environment in which I best learn.

My MAL experience was very positive and it confirmed that I was on the right career path and doing the right type of work. I expanded my knowledge of human and organizational development and gained new insights about leadership and myself. Being self-employed, my biggest challenge was to find the time, energy, and resources to make this endeavour a reality. My desire to learn combined with the learning environment created by the faculty and other learners were key to my success.

The topic of my MAL research project was generational diversity in the workplace. The arrival of generations "X" and "Next" and the exodus of “Veterans” and “Baby-boomers” from organizations is drastically changing the demographic profile of today`s workforce. The dynamics of relationships among employees from different generational groups, coupled with their respective needs, have introduced new challenges. My research offered leaders recommendations on how to create an organizational culture in which the needs and abilities of the four generations are addressed and maximized.

The MAL program was the impetus to what I describe as my personal and professional on-going transformation. "The starting point of leadership is self!" The Executive Coaching certificate program helped me see coaching in a different light, integrate new skills in my business practice, and improve my interactions with people. I feel that these programs influenced my approach to life and work. I can honestly say that learning is now a conscious part of my daily activities. It has become a habit that I embrace.
