Kaitlin Richardson, MA in Intercultural and International Communication
J. Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship, Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada
Now that job security is no longer a guarantee of employment—belonging to a time of robust economies and mammoth organizations—networking has become essential for ongoing employment. This skill has become a necessity for those hoping to land a new job or advance in a tough economy.
For the majority of people, meeting new contacts and establishing relationships is hard work; networking is a learned skill, honed with practice, and more often than not, through trial and error. Under the supervision of Dr. Gilbert Wilkes, Richardson will help demonstrate how successful people across a variety of industries build relationships from the ground up, what characteristics these successful networkers have in common, and what lessons can be drawn from their successes.
