Apurba Joshi came to Canada looking for opportunity.

Traveling from Darjeeling, India, he found it in the classrooms of Royal Roads University's Master of Global Management (MGM) program. He sees it in the opportunity to learn from people from around the world; the opportunity to be taught by faculty with real-world experience; and the tangible opportunity to jump start his career.

"With so much emphasis on 'globalization' employers are increasingly becoming interested in professionals who have some sort of experience working in more than one country (and culture)," Joshi says. "This is where MGM sort of acts as a good substitute. It gives students a first-class learning experience of different business aspects in a global context."

That learning experience is rooted in team-learning, allowing students the opportunity to hone their teamwork skills while growing their individual knowledge base.

"Concepts and ideas are one thing, sharing them is another," he says. "That is exactly where MGM makes me feel so complete. The way the program is structured it engages the students to involve themselves in group discussions and participation. The concept of 'team-work' underlines the program's theme where the participation of each member enriches the learning process of the entire class."

It was the name of the program that initially drew Joshi in, as the Master of Global Management caught his curiosity. Once on the campus, he was taken by the beautiful surroundings, the resourcefulness of the faculty and the diversity of his cohort mates.

"My batch alone has students from 11 different countries including Canada," he said. "Diversity in the group is particularly useful as it brings newer ideas and thoughts to the students' learning experience."
