“The program provided a safe environment for self-development”
MA in Conflict Analysis and Management
“The approach to learning at RRU is collaborative; you learn from your cohort as much, if not more, than from assigned readings and conducting research. The learning environment is extremely supportive of critical thinking, creating the space to debate and challenge different perspectives while maintaining respect for everyone. On a daily basis you’re encouraged to challenge your own thinking and push the limits of your understanding.
The biggest impact was on my own worldview; becoming more aware of my biases and appreciating the variation in perspectives around me. I used to think that by passionately jumping into a discussion I was being true to myself, however, through the MACAM program I learned to take a step back, to listen before seeking to be heard, and to always put myself in somebody else’s shoes first. This took much effort, because going against one’s nature is challenging, but I learned to appreciate every conflict as a learning opportunity rather than a threat, and to pay more attention to self-awareness and purpose.”
