Program Structure

This program is delivered through a combination of short, intensive residencies on campus, web-based courses and a dissertation. It employs the cohort model.

First Residency:
SOSC 700 Global Interdependence and Community (3 Credits)
SOSC 710 Social Science Theory and the Globalized World  (3 Credits)

Distance Period:
SOSC 720 The Epistemology of Applied Social Sciences (3 credits)
SOSC 717 Directed Study (3 credits)

Second Residency:
SOSC 730* Applied Qualitative Social Scientific Methods (3 credits)
SOSC 740 Applied Quantitative Social Scientific Methods (3 credits)

Comprehensive Written Examination

Comprehensive Oral Examination

SOSC 790 Dissertation (42 credits)

Dissertation Defense
