The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BSc-ES) is years three and four combined in an intensive 12-month program that complements students’ knowledge in environmental science with courses in environmental management, economics, law, community relations, communications skills and sustainable development to gain the problem solving skills necessary to assume leadership positions in business and government.
This program allows students with at least two years of post-secondary education to complete an interdisciplinary environmental science bachelor’s degree in one year.
The program begins each September, with a small cohort of students who work together throughout the year.
All students are involved with a major project team that spends nine months working to solve a current environmental issue for a business, government or community group. Follow these links to learn more about previous major projects undertaken.
Who it’s for
Those who have completed two years post-secondary studies and who bring certain analytical skills, knowledge and awareness to environmental issues.
Applicants who do not have the formal academic education to qualify for admission may be assessed on the basis of both their formal education and their informal learning, in accordance with the Flexible Admission Policy.
Outcomes
Graduates of the BSc-ES program have a broad range of relevant technical, communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills, together with a firm grounding in environmental science. Graduates will have improved their ability to analyze problems, recognize the complexity of environmental issues and apply problem-solving skills to particular environmental problems. More
