Bio (Stephen Scott)
Stephen Scott is a Certified Management Accountant who began teaching as associate faculty for Royal Roads University in 2010 after working in senior roles in the hospitality industry for 15 years. His experience includes roles in a diverse range of industries including hospitality, retail, real estate, and property management. In addition to his career, Scott is a very active member of the community, volunteering for the Peninsula Baseball and Softball Association and the Peninsula Celebrations Society.
Scott focused his career on providing financial leadership to several businesses as vice-president, finance and controller. These roles have occurred in settings from historical, mature companies to companies transitioning from pre-opening to becoming viable stand-alone businesses. Scott was responsible for successfully communicating targets, objectives and goals of the business through all organizational levels. His teaching career began in 2010 with Royal Roads as an online instructor and he now teaches fulltime at master, bachelor, and diploma levels with various institutions.
Scott earned the Certified Management Accountant designation in 2003. Prior to enrolling in the CMA program, he completed the University of Victoria Bachelor of Commerce program in 1996. He also holds an Instructional Skills Workshop certificate from Camosun College and an Instructional Skills Workshop Online from Royal Roads University. Scott is currently completing the B.C. Provincial Instructor Diploma.
