Rod Harris

Associate faculty

Tourism & Hospitality Management

Rod Harris is an associate faculty member at Royal Roads University and is a visiting professor at MCI (Management Center Innsbruck) in Austria. His teaching focus is on corporate financial management, having also taught business management, governance, strategic planning and marketing in Canada and internationally. In addition to running a private consulting practice, Harris provides executive coaching for senior corporate managers.

Experience

Harris led the global marketing of Tourism BC for sixteen years. During this time, the organization won gold medals from the Canadian Marketing Association and the Pacific Asia Travel Association; was named BC’s Marketer of the Year by the American Marketing Association; and received the prestigious Global Tourism Award at the World Travel Market in London, England. Harris was inducted into the Canadian Tourism Hall of Fame (Tourism Industry Association of Canada) in 2011.

Prior to his appointment at Tourism BC, he served as a senior executive with major Canadian marketing and advertising companies: Labatt’s, Colgate-Palmolive, Sara Lee and Lever Brothers.
