Bio (Peter Elkins)
Peter Elkins is a serial entrepreneur and community economic development thought leader. His unique background includes both “garage start-ups” and “Fortune Global 500” career experience. His current work focuses on pioneering in the impact-investing space looking for innovative ways to unlock capital for early stage ventures and helping accelerate values-aligned leaders change the business conversation in their local communities. He is currently the CEO of the Capital Investment Network.
Elkins has long been fascinated by the convergence of community and entrepreneurialism. Today, he is an accomplished business leader, investor and advisor with start-up, growth and enterprise acumen. Before moving to Victoria from Vancouver in 2011, Elkin built his reputation as one of B.C.’s leading entrepreneurial minds as a management consultant at Kaufman Global and as the founder and CEO of GUTZ EMS, a medical device company. His entry into the medical device sector was inspired by his time as a paramedic in Vancouver’s downtown Eastside. Since arriving in Victoria, Elkins has co-founded the Capital Investment Network and Kick Victoria, two grassroots organizations dedicated to building Vancouver Island’s investment and entrepreneurial eco-system. Elkins is a compassionate and mindful entrepreneur who thrives on supporting others. He is devoted to mentoring entrepreneurs, supporting organizations as their entrepreneur-in-residence and contributing to Douglas Magazine as a regular columnist on entrepreneurship.
