Bio (Michael Conlin)
Tourism and Hospitality Management
In addition to his work at Royal Roads, Michael Conlin is a professor at the Okanagan School of Business, Okanagan College in Kelowna, Canada where he teaches courses in hospitality and tourism, multicultural and human resource management. Conlin holds an appointment in the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University of Guelph, Canada where he teaches in the MBA in Hospitality and Tourism program. Finally, he holds an appointment with the Management Centre Innsbruck in Austria where he teaches courses in multicultural management and tourism delivery systems.
From 1995 to 2004, Conlin was the chief executive at the Australian International Hotel School (AIHS) in Canberra, Australia. Prior to joining the AIHS, Conlin was dean of the Faculty of Hotel and Business Administration at Bermuda College. In 1983 – 1984, Conlin was an assistant professor of marketing at Laurentian University in Sudbury. He has held teaching appointments at The Ivey School, King’s College and Brescia College, all at the University of Western Ontario and with Boston University and the Canadian Management Accountants educational program.
Conlin holds a Juris Doctor, Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in political science, all from the University of Western Ontario. He is a barrister and solicitor, Law Society of Upper Canada (Province of Ontario Bar). Conlin is a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality (formerly the HCIMA), Professor Emeritus of the AIHS and is a graduate of the Senior University Administrator’s Course at the University of Western Ontario.
