Gurjit Chaplin has extensive management experience including operations, governance and business development. A former chief executive officer and founder of a public practice accounting firm, she primarily now partners with small private corporations to advise on business process improvements, strategic direction, situational leadership and engagement. Chaplin’s strong technical accounting background combined with her entrepreneurial experience makes her well-suited for teaching—an endeavor that she is also passionate about.
Chaplin brings an academic, business and governance background to Royal Roads University. She has been teaching with the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia since 2012. Beyond her academic experience, she has worked for more than two decades in public practice and private industry focusing on improving client operations, strategic direction and financial controllership. As a lifelong learner, Chaplin facilitates workshops for entrepreneurs on situational leadership. Throughout her career, she has served on quasi-judicial review boards on a federal and provincial level including the Canada Pension Review Tribunal, Old Age Security, Property Assessment Review Panel, and Employment and Assistance Appeal Tribunal.
Chaplin holds a Chartered Professional Accountant Certification from Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia (2002) and a Master of Education in Leadership from Athabasca University (2018).
