Bio (George Veletsianos )
Dr. George Veletsianos is a Canada Research Chair in Innovative Learning and Technology and professor in the School of Education and Technology. Veletsianos studies emerging technologies and pedagogies and his research aims to understand learners’, educators’ and scholars’ practices and experiences in emerging online settings (e.g., social networks and open learning environments). He has published two books, more than 40 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters, and has given more than 60 talks in conferences and events worldwide. Read more from his blogs and publications.
Veletsianos has been designing, developing and studying online and hybrid learning environments since 2004. His research and design/development work have been funded by the Canada Research Chairs program, the National Science Foundation, the European Union, National Geographic and the Swedish Knowledge Foundation. Veletsianos is a past Fulbright scholar and an early-career fellow of the Network of Excellence in Technology Enhanced Learning, a European Union Initiative. Prior to joining Royal Roads in 2013, Veletsianos held appointments at the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Manchester, UK.
Veletsianos holds an MA and PhD in Learning Technologies from the University of Minnesota.
