Deborah Zornes

As director of research services at Royal Roads University, Dr. Deborah Zornes works with faculty to develop high quality research proposals, led the recent development of the university’s Strategic Research Plan, and works with students to help them develop their research proposals. Zornes has more than 20 years’ experience in research administration and has taught for more than 10 years. Her research focuses on the role of the university in society, research administration, research impact and research evaluation.

Experience

As director, Zornes is involved in strategic planning; policy development; external representation and liaison; research development, innovation and commercialization and knowledge transfer; supporting faculty research; demonstrating the value of research; fostering and promoting multi-sector and multi-disciplinary research; developing and reviewing contracts; developing mechanisms for tracking and evaluating research outcomes and their alignment with university goals; researching and identifying new and existing funding opportunities and overseeing financial obligations for grants and contracts.
