Bio (Maria Anderson)
Board of Governors Member
Maria Anderson, a student in the Doctor of Social Sciences program and the Graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching program, was elected in October 2017 to serve as the student representative on the Board of Governors.
Anderson is an information technology professional and consultant with 30 years in the field, including management and leadership experience in large organizations such as Suncor Energy and Encana Corp.
An alumna of the Master of Arts in Leadership program (2015), Anderson is also founder and CEO of Anderson Leadership Consulting, which provides executive and leadership coaching to IT organizations.
She is a past president and past board member of the Independent Oracle Users Group, an international IT association with more than 300,000 members. She is a member of many professional leadership and IT organizations, including the International Leadership Association, International Positive Psychology Association, Canadian Positive Psychology Association, Canadian Information Processing Society, Institute for the Certification of Computing Professionals and VIATEC - Victoria Innovation, Advanced Technology and Entrepreneurship Council.
Anderson’s doctoral dissertation explores how leadership fosters innovation and thriving within IT departments.
