Bio (Alisa Gordaneer)
Business, Continuing Studies
Alisa Gordaneer teaches business and technical communications, academic writing and critical thinking for Professional and Continuing Studies the School of Business and at Royal Roads. She also teaches journalism and creative writing for Vancouver Island University. When she’s not teaching, she writes narrative and journalistic nonfiction, poetry and fiction. Her areas of interest include energy, environment and sustainability, food, popular culture and the arts.
In addition to 10 years of teaching experience at Royal Roads, the University of Victoria, the University of British Columbia and Camosun College, Gordaneer has worked as a professional writer and editor since 1991. The former editor-in-chief of Monday Magazine, and features editor for Detroit’s Metro Times, she wrote a regular column Victoria’s Boulevard Magazine until 2014. She also works as a communications consultant, and is director of content for Ex Machina Media, a media training and content creation company. She has also published numerous works of non-fiction and poetry.
Gordaneer holds a Master of Arts in English specializing in Canadian Literature and a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Women’s Studies from the University of Victoria.
