Bio (Alisa Gordaneer)
Business, Continuing Studies
Alisa teaches business and technical communications, academic writing and environmental writing for the School of Business and Continuing Studies at Royal Roads. She also teaches journalism and creative writing for the University of Victoria. When she’s not teaching, she writes narrative and journalistic nonfiction, poetry, and fiction. Her areas of interest include energy, environment and sustainability, food, popular culture and the arts.
In addition to five years of teaching experience at Royal Roads, the University of Victoria, the University of British Columbia and Camosun College, Gordaneer has worked as a professional writer and editor since 1991. The former editor-in-chief of Monday Magazine, and features editor for Detroit’s Metro Times, she now writes a regular column for Victoria’s Boulevard Magazine, works as a communications consultant, and has published numerous works of non-fiction and poetry.
Gordaneer holds a Master’s degree in English, specializing in Canadian Literature, from the University of Victoria, and a Bachelor’s degree in English, with a minor in Women’s Studies, also from the same university.
