Henry, Fraser make Maclean’s Power List
Maclean’s annual Power List includes two shining stars of the Royal Roads’ community.
Honorary doctorate recipient Dr. Bonnie Henry, who received her honoris causa degree during Spring Convocation, was listed in the number five spot on the list. Royal Roads alum and associate faculty Teara Fraser sits at number 46.
On Henry, Maclean’s writes: “She’s been the personification of reassuring leadership—though she didn’t brush aside her own emotion on the press conference dais on the rare occasions when the tears welled up—and became a beloved figure who inspired fan T-shirts and a pair of eponymous designer shoes.”
Regarding Fraser, the Power List says: “Teara Fraser is officially a real-world hero. In 2019, less than a decade after she earned her commercial pilot’s licence, she became the first Indigenous woman in Canada ever to run an airline when she launched Richmond, B.C.-based Iskwew Air (iskwew means ‘woman,’ in Cree). In December, DC Comics featured her story in a graphic novel, Wonderful Women of History.”
