Royal Roads University celebrates 42nd convocation

October 26, 2017

Royal Roads University will celebrate the achievements of 768 graduates and recognize women who create positive change at its forty-second convocation Nov. 9, 2017.

The convocation ceremonies at the Royal Theatre in downtown Victoria will confer on the new graduates degrees, certificates or diplomas in the Faculty of Management, the Faculty of Social and Applied Sciences and the College of Interdisciplinary Studies. The graduates join more than 25,600 alumni of Royal Roads University worldwide.

“Our graduates have spent their time at Royal Roads honing the skills and scholarship needed to tackle personal and professional goals while solving some of the most pressing problems of the day,” says Allan Cahoon, president and vice-chancellor. “I have great faith in them, what they have learned and how they will apply their knowledge.”

The university will also confer honorary degrees on two outstanding British Columbians:

  • The Honourable Judith Guichon, OBC, is the 29th lieutenant governor of British Columbia and a lifelong advocate for environmental stewardship.
  • Kathy Kinloch is president of the British Columbia Institute of Technology as well as a former health-care executive and registered nurse.

Chancellor Kathleen Birney will present the Chancellor’s Community Achievement Award to the Bridges for Women Society for supporting women impacted by violence and trauma as they break the cycles of abuse through healing and employment.
