Royal Roads joins MITx MicroMasters pathway program
Business professionals looking to jump-start their graduate education can be granted credits at Royal Roads University after completing one of three MicroMasters® credentials from MITx, one of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT) online education programs.
Royal Roads will consider MITx MicroMasters credentials in Supply Chain Management, Principles of Manufacturing or Data, Economics and Development Policy worth up to nine credits towards completion of a Master of Business Administration in Executive Management (MBA).
MITx MicroMasters programs allow learners anywhere in the world to earn professional and academic credentials designed for top careers. Learners who pass an integrated set of MITx graduate-level courses and the corresponding proctored exams can earn MicroMasters credentials.
“MicroMasters program graduates are well suited to study for their MBA with Royal Roads. They have demonstrated they are capable of rigorous graduate-level work and are comfortable with online education,” says Dr. William Holmes, dean of the Faculty of Management at Royal Roads University. “We invite these students to consider Royal Roads as the next step in their business education.”
Royal Roads University is the first Canadian university to offer pathways for students from MITx MicroMasters programs to a master’s degree program.
MIT’s dean for digital learning, Dr. Krishna Rajagopal, is himself Canadian. “I’m very pleased to see Royal Roads University become the first Canadian university to offer pathways for students from MITx MicroMasters programs to master’s degrees,” he said. “At MIT, we are dedicated to providing increased access to higher education and career advancement to learners around the globe.”
Holmes says these pathways could also benefit Royal Roads students looking to broaden their education.
“Our MBA students could also specialize in these areas by pursuing one of these three MicroMasters credentials through MITx and applying the credits to their Royal Roads education.”
