Newly appointed director was president of Pearson Peacekeeping Centre
Alex Morrison, recently appointed as director of the School of Peace and Conflict Management at Royal Roads University was founding president of the Pearson Peacekeeping Centre from 1994 to 2001. Royal Roads student to ride across Canada in Sears National Kids Cancer Ride
Siobhan McManus is a student in Royal Roads University's Bachelor of Commerce program and a member of this year's championship case competition team. This summer, she'll be riding from Vancouver to Halifax to raise funds and awareness about childhood cancer. Her goal is to raise $25,000. July 17 - B.C. Fruit Testers offer free pruning workshop at Royal Roads
The B.C. Fruit Testers will be at Royal Roads University on Saturday, July 17 from 10:00 a.m. offering the always popular free tree pruning workshop.  The two-hour workshop will be followed by a heritage garden tour. Participants are asked to bring their lunch. For more information contact Ann Aylard with the B.C. July 22 - World Drum arrives at Royal Roads
Since 2006, the World Drum has been on a sacred journey to more than 350 locations around the globe. On Thursday, July 22 from noon to 12:30, the World Drum will be welcomed to the campus of Royal Roads with traditional singing and drumming in front of the Grant Building, 2005 Sooke Road.

July 27 - Panel on transforming Canada's Forestry Sector
Avrim Lazar, CEO of the Forest Products Association of Canada and Lorne Johnson who, apart from working for the World Wildlife Fund and the Forest Stewardship Council, has worked in the resource sector bringing divergent groups of stakeholders together for innovative policy agendas, will be at Royal Roads University for a panel discussion on the Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement. This agreement sets Canada's forest industry apart from the rest of the world and is a paradigm shift in resource-based business practices. Presenters will review the two-year collaborative process and discuss the implementation objectives that encompass a "whole-cloth" approach to managing the global environment and the economy. This panel is presented by the School of Environment and Sustainability and the Robert Bateman Centre at Royal Roads University. For more information, the public are invited to call 250-391-2511.
