Prof named chair of Canadian Society for Training and Development chapter
Dr. Connie Carter, professor of law with the Faculty of Management at Royal Roads University, has been named chair and president of the Vancouver Island chapter of the Canadian Society for Training and Development. Since 1946, this organization has been advocating for workplace training and development, including lobbying government, developing competency standards and nurturing professional development in the workplace. Shanghai English teachers living on West Shore for immersion experience
Since August 10, a class of 20 English public, primary and secondary, school teachers from the Jiading district of Shanghai in China have been living and learning on the campus of Royal Roads University as part of an international teachers training and cultural immersion program. This is the first of its kind being hosted at Royal Roads, but is part of a long-term goal of establishing relationships with Asian institutional partners. They will be here until mid-September. Many are fluent in English. Members of the media are encouraged to contact Phil Saunders to arrange to hear their stories of their time in Victoria and the West Shore.
Sept. 10-13 - Former Cadets and graduates to celebrate Royal Roads homecoming
Starting Friday, Sept. 10 until Sunday, Sept. 13, hundreds of graduates will descend on the campus of Royal Roads University for the annual homecoming weekend. With an emphasis on the military legacy of Royal Roads Military College, several events are planned including the repatriation of the HMCS Royal Roads ship's bell, on long-term loan from the museum at CFB Esquimalt. InRoads is the e-magazine distributed to alumni and staff at Royal Roads University. The publication provides a variety of stories about the university, its graduates, programs, staff, and faculty.
