In advance of Royal Roads’ Oct. 30 Women Leading Change panel discussion, School of Communication and Culture Director Dr. Jennifer Walinga appeared on CFAX radio’s Politics 1070 show with host Pamela McCall.

Walinga spoke to the significance of Prime Minister-designate Trudeau’s promise to establish gender equity in his new cabinet.

Here is an excerpt:

"Unless you push for equity of resources and opportunity, you’re not really going to see the change naturally. If you don’t have representative numbers at the table, you’re not going to have those voices at the table. We are looking for more of a visible balance in terms of the values that are being spoken and expressed at those leadership tables. […]

The feminine model of leadership is characterized by certain kinds of approaches and values traits, such as collaboration, integration, participatory inclusion – and in the work we are doing at Royal Roads –inclusiveness seems to be the fundamental premise to that kind of leadership."
