Thomlinson on grounding planes in wake of crash
School of Tourism and Hospitality Management Assoc. Prof. Eugene Thomlinson was interviewed in the Times Colonist about the grounding of Boeing 737 Max 8 planes by the Canadian transport ministry following last week’s crash in Ethiopia.
Here is an excerpt:
‘It comes down to that whole idea of what is called the precautionary principle…it might be a rare situation that has occurred, but…you don’t want to take the chance.’
The good news for passengers is that with the federal announcement that Max 8s are grounded, ‘people can make changes to their flights and not be penalized for it.’
