Royal Roads University in Colwood is rebranding itself with a new logo, new tagline and more to get its message out.

The logo uses the well-known turret of historic Hatley Castle as well as an image of colour pixels to illustrate the combination of traditional and online learning offered by the university.

Its new tagline is "Life. Changing." A new website, at, has also been unveiled.

Cyndi McLeod, RRU vice-president of marketing, recruitment and business development, said Tuesday that the new brand brings RRU to life in a crowded marketplace.

The university focuses on educational programs, collaborative learning and applying education in the real world, she said. "From a strategic perspective, as we grow and evolve nationally and internationally, it's vital that our brand effectively highlights this offering."

The campaign to promote Royal Roads will be rolled out in the next two months featuring print, digital and outdoor media, a release said.

Located on 227-hectares, the university has been working on developing a new brand for two years. Its development included consultation with alumni, faculty and students.

Programs offered by the university include global tourism management, sustainable tourism, disaster and emergency management, environmental practice and management, communications and business.
