Resignation of head of female hockey sparks conversation on gender equality

In the wake of the resignation of the head of the female program at Kelowna Minor Hockey over the unfair treatment of female athletes, director of the School of Communication and Culture Jennifer Walinga is speaking out about the importance of equality in sport. 

"This is one of those examples - and our society is rife with them - where we are operating on these underlying assumptions that somehow girls are a lesser being or that certain participants, because of the way they play, are somehow lower on the hierarchy of our social values."
