Province provides $1.5 million for West Shore post-secondary business case
The announcement Royal Roads University is developing a business case for a university campus in the West Shore, funded by $1.5 million from the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills and Training, garnered headlines across Greater Victoria.
Here’s an excerpt from the Times Colonist:
‘The whole world of work is changing—many jobs that exist today aren’t going to exist in the future,’ [Royal Roads President Philip] Steenkamp said. ‘We need to give people the skills they need to thrive in the new economy. I think a new campus on the West Shore will help shape that new economy.’
The new university could be a collaboration between Royal Roads, UVic and Camosun, Steenkamp said.
‘The most exciting thing about this, if we go ahead with this, we’re going to be able to put in place an undergraduate program that is completely different from most,’ he said.
