One year on, drone attacks against ISIS increasing

Drones are increasingly used in the fight against the Islamic state, but questions are being raised as to their effectiveness. 

School of Communication and Culture associate faculty member Ann Rogers co-authored the 2014 book, Unmanned: Drone Warfare and Global Security.

Rogers was quoted by CBC News online Aug. 8. She says there have been huge social, economic and psychological problems created for the local populations where drones have been used extensively.

"There is little public awareness in the West that drones are killing people which is why we're seeing these wars by remote control drag on for years and years with no clear resoltuion or objective," says Rogers.
