Master of Arts in Disaster and Emergency Management student Carmin Moore was interviewed by CBC News about her role in a tsunami risk project on Haida Gwaii.

Local officials sold the province on the plan. It's providing $15,000 to pay a Royal Roads University intern to map out which of the roughly 2,000 [utility] poles on the island should receive tsunami warning markings.

"Essentially this information could eventually save lives in the event of a tsunami," said Moore.
