ISIS recruiter in Edmonton enlists Canadian woman
The family of a young Canadian woman who travelled to Syria after being radicalized say losing her was the most "shocking thing in the world" and that they wish CSIS had done more to prevent the 23-year-old’s departure, CBC reports.
In the wake of a CBC investigation, Prof. Ken Christie offers expert opinion on how young women are being recruited and why they go in an interview with CBC's All Points West.
"You have to look at the profiles of these young women," says Christie. "They're probably naive, quite gullible. They're probably searching for an identity. They're probably a bit alienated and disillusioned with society in general. These are vulnerable people ... these are not people who are confident in themselves with a strong identity."
