Human Security and Peacebuilding Program Head Ken Christie spoke with CBC Daybreak South’s Chris Walker about what the federal election reveals about the state of populism in Canada.

Here is an excerpt:

“It is a trend, there’s no doubt about that. Justin Trudeau is forming a minority government. That minority government will probably be a bit more able to be attacked. It’s not as if populism will go away.

“On the other hand, I really don’t think it has a long-term future in Canada because of these liberal multicultural kinds of values are more important to Canadians than these sort of short-term populist ideals.”
