For cancer patients, a 'crown' of henna helps
Royal Roads communications student Katherine O’Connor was featured in the Times Colonist and on CTV News for her work with Henna Heals, a Toronto initiative that gives henna 'crowns' to women undergoing chemotherapy.
O'Connor told the Times Colonist she saw it as a way to re-empower women who have lost a visible symbol of womanhood by replacing the hair with a natural, temporary henna design on their head.
“It’s a way of turning it into a joyful expression of femininity,” O’Connor said.
