Black on social media etiquette

School of Communication and Culture Assoc. Prof. David Black spoke with CBC Radio’s BC Almanac about the importance of social media etiquette following a flood of online criticism about Canadian musician Alessia Cara’s Grammy win.

“Communication technologies are not neutral. They are changing us in ways that we don’t fully understand … etiquette is one way in which we can push back against the socially defining patterns and forces that follow from our technologies.”
