Fall 2003 Convocation

New chancellor installed, outgoing chancellor honoured

Victoria businessman Bob Skene was installed as chancellor of Royal Roads University at fall convocation ceremony and outgoing chancellor Hugh Gordon received an honorary doctorate in recognition of his distinguished career and years of public service.

Skene is a vice-president and partner of WCG International Consultants Ltd. At RRU, the chair of the board of governors is also the university’s chancellor. Skene has served on the RRU board since October, 2000. He is a Fellow of the B.C. Institute of Chartered Accountants and was chief executive officer of the Vancouver Island Advanced Technology Centre (VIATeC) for 10 years. He is a board member of the Victoria Airport Authority and a past-president of the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce and has served on the boards of various Victoria community organizations.

This was the fourteenth convocation at Royal Roads University. The 578 graduates include the first grads from the master of arts program in leadership and training with a specialization in justice and public safety leadership.
