Jim Kyte: NHL to college dean
Royal Roads University grad Jim Kyte — the first legally deaf person to play in the NHL— was profiled by the National Hockey League.
Following a nearly fatal car crash, Kyte shifted his focus from hockey to academia. In 2012 Kyte earned his Master of Business Administration in Executive Management from Royal Roads University where he finished at the top of his class, receiving both the Governor General’s Academic Gold Medal and Royal Roads University Chancellor's Award.
Kyte is dean of Hospitality and Tourism at Algonquin College, following stints as academic chair of the college’s School of Business and as professor of Sport Business Management.
