Program Admission: Graduate Certificate in Values-Based Leadership
Pre-requisite(s): N/A
Standard Admission
- Four year undergraduate degree; and
- Normally, a minimum of five years in leadership, consulting, coaching and/or teaching.
Flexible Admission
- Applicants without an undergraduate degree, but who have at least two years of undergraduate education and/or post-secondary professional certification and/or certificate or diploma education; and
- Professional expertise commensurate with a minimum of 7 years of leadership experience may be assessed through our flexible admission process.
Application Requirements
Please follow the standard university requirements with the exception of the following program-specific requirements:
Statement of Intent
A statement of Intent should identify your learning interests, goals, and expectations for your participation in the program. It should provide the professional context that generated your learning interests in the program and how you hope to integrate your learning into your professional life and career direction.
Two Letters of reference
a. Personal Character Reference
Your personal character reference should consist of a letter from someone who has known you well on a personal level over a period of at least five years. Please ask the writer to indicate the length of time and context in which they have known you, and to consider your leadership attributes, relationship qualities, commitment to learning, and key values demonstrated in action.
b. Professional Reference
This reference letter should focus on your work related achievements and contributions, your leadership abilities and approach, special and outstanding features of your career, and values exemplified in your practice.
Structured Resumé
Your professional resumé should include the following:
1. Post-Secondary Education
List all degrees, diplomas, certificates, and professional development programs that you have completed, or if applicable, which match the flexible admissions criteria above.
2. Work Experience
a. Leadership, Consultant and/or Coaching Experience
- List and briefly describe leadership positions held, nature of the work, and duration;
- Describe nature of consultation practice and typical consultation projects undertaken; and/or
- Describe nature of coaching practice.
b. Training and Teaching Experience
- Describe experience in teaching, training, facilitation, including context and client details and duration of the work
3. Voluntary/Unpaid Work Experience
List and describe any voluntary or community service experience. Please include name of organization, length of service and a brief description of duties.
4. Any other experience you think is relevant.
