Trudeau scholars are outstanding students who are interested in growing in a multidisciplinary learning environment and in addressing important questions for Canada and the world. They are Canadian citizens or permanent residents pursuing their first doctoral degree and are enrolled full-time in the first or second year of a doctoral program in Canada, or Canadian citizens enrolled full-time in a doctoral program outside Canada.
Royal Roads University is able to nominate 8 applications to the National competition. Each year, the Foundation awards up to fifteen scholarships to Canadian and foreign doctoral candidates pursuing research related to one of its four founding themes.
A complete application comprises:
- Electronic application form
- Three letters of recommendation: two (2) from academic referees, principally concerning academic achievements, AND one (1) from a non-academic referee, concerning the non-academic aspects of the application.
- Official transcripts of all post-secondary studies, including RRU's transcript. Transcripts must be supplied by the applicant (i.e. RRU cannot release the copies we have on file at the Registrar's Office).
- The letter of nomination signed by a high-ranking official of the institution will be provided by RRU to the nominees after they are selected in the internal competition for nomination.
