Positive Deviance with Dr. Arvind Singhal
Royal Roads University welcomes Dr. Arvind Singhal to campus on Wednesday, March 29 at 6:30 p.m. in the Centre for Dialogue (Learning and Innovation Centre, 4th floor). Dr. Singhal has taught in RRU’s Master of Arts in Professional Communication program for many years in the areas of communication for development and social change. We are thrilled to welcome him for a special evening talk focused on his newest work on Positive Deviance: A New Paradigm of Social, Organizational, and Behavioral Change.
Dr. Arvind Singhal (PhD, USC) is the Samuel Shirley and Edna Holt Marston Endowed Professor of Communication and Director of the Social Justice Initiative in University of Texas El Paso’s Department of Communication. He is also appointed, since 2009, as the William J. Clinton Distinguished Fellow at the Clinton School of Public Service, Little Rock, Arkansas. Singhal teaches and conducts research in the areas of diffusion of innovations, the positive deviance approach, organizing for social change, the entertainment-education strategy, and liberating interactional structures. His research and outreach spans sectors such as health, education, peace, human rights, poverty alleviation, sustainable development, civic participation, democracy and governance, and corporate citizenship. He is the author of 14 books and has won Top Paper awards and international acclaim for his conference papers on communication for social change at ICA and NCA over a dozen times.
